Want to Work with ISAIC? Read our FAQ Guide

A lot of exciting changes have been happening here at ISAIC! From becoming a core partner in the 10-year FutureTEX initiative to moving into our new home at the College for Creative Studies’ A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education, it’s been a busy and exciting time. Our move also brought Michigan’s only TUKAcenter, along with our VIP Open House and 2026 Design Jam, among many other exciting opportunities.

With our expanded space comes expanded capabilities to work directly with our community. We’ve received an increased volume of inquiries (which we love!), and we realized this was the perfect time to create an FAQ to answer some of our most common questions and help you navigate everything you need to know before working with ISAIC.

Question: “I have an idea for a product but i have no idea where to start. Can ISAIC help?”

Answer: The best place to start is by submitting a new inquiry on our website! This way we can learn more about your idea, where you’re at in the development process, and if we’d be a good fit to work together.

Fill out our Contact Form to see how we can work together.

Question: “Can I come in and use your equipment?”

Answer: In early 2027, we are launching our Open Access program, which provides community members access to our space and equipment to continue developing their projects after completing training.

You can learn more, including our Open Access FAQ, on our website here.

Question: “How can I find out when you’re hiring?”

Answer: If we ever have any open job positions, they will be listed here our website, posted on social media, and included in our monthly newsletter.

Question: “Do you offer sewing classes?”

Answer: Yes, we offer two versions of our Fundamentals of Industrial Sewing and Production: 192 hours (Fundamentals) and 65 hours (Accelerated).

While we aren't offering any more courses for the rest of 2026, we already have the 2027 dates listed on our website at isaic.org/courses

Question: “Do you offer tours?”

Answer: Yes! You can request a tour here through our website. We offer facility tours every Tuesday at 1 p.m., with each tour lasting approximately 30 minutes. We’re happy to tailor the tour and focus areas to your group’s interests.
