We believe that company values are only meaningful when they are reflected across every level of the organization. To model the way, we sought to align incentives and give workers a stake in the organization’s success. By committing to sharing rewards with and creating opportunities for input from our production employees, we seek to supercharge the power a culture of continuous improvement for the benefit of business and their employees.

EMPLOYEE BUSINESS UNIT (EBU)
The EBU is a program at ISAIC that runs revenue-generating production lines for various clients. It advances ISAIC’s mission by providing a paid opportunity for employees to learn business fundamentals, enabling them to actively contribute to increased efficiency and productivity at ISAIC and to deepen their own business acumen. The EBU is designed to be flexible and benefit as many people as possible without creating any additional risk for employees.
After developing and piloting the EBU and associated employee training, it has been running in since early 2024. The program’s case study shows that employees who feel happier and safer at work—and who understand all aspects of the business well enough to help improve it, while also sharing in the benefits of those improvements—are the key to transforming and sustaining the industry. By sharing our model and what we have learned, we aim to help others make similar high-impact investments in their own workers.
A key factor in EBU's success is ISAIC's proprietary Business Leadership Training process, which we developed with strong employee engagement and the support of the Democracy At Work Institute. ISAIC now consults with organizations to implement the guiding principles and best practices learned from the EBU. In practice, these lead to improved business outcomes as well as higher employee satisfaction and retention.
