Advancing Entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurs are important to the future of fashion. To support Detroit designers, brands and entrepreneurs, we’ve partnered with Michigan Women Forward (MWF) to pilot Fashion Forward: Advancing Entrepreneurs, a three-pronged program to prepare individuals with skills to successfully manufacture their product; coaching on the business of fashion; and access to low-rate financing to support business growth.
Through the end of 2022, 10 entrepreneurs will be set on a path towards launching, re-establishing or building their brand. Those selected will receive a grant for free tuition in FISP, plus a stipend for their time to attend the six-week course. See flier for details and important dates.
The three building blocks:
Fundamentals of Industrial Sewing and Production (FISP) – ISAIC’s proprietary curriculum addresses the fundamentals entrepreneurs need to take their product to manufacturing.
A one-day workshop to expose students to the basics of owning their own business and provide a roadmap for the steps they need to take to prepare.
Entrepreneurs apply for a low-fee microloan from MWF to fully establish their fashion business
